PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Canada – 2003 until present:

Gavin joined in Spiegel Skillen and Associates Ltd. in June 2003 as an Associate of the company and recently became a director of SSA Quantity Surveyors Ltd. Gavin has worked as Professional Quantity Surveyor on numerous public and private sector projects throughout British Columbia, Alberta and the North West Territories. Gavin’s significantly involved in the health care and education sector. Projects have ranged in size from small $1M projects to large projects over $100M.

Gavin has worked with various ministries, health authorities and school districts throughout Western Canada were services typically include a broad range duties from feasibility studies, project identification reports, cost planning and budgeting, change order cost control, payment certification and final accounts including project audits.

Ireland – 2001 to 2003:

From 2001 to 2003, Gavin was employed by Rogerson Reddan and Associates Project, Construction and Cost Managers in Dublin, Ireland. Gavin worked on various new and redevelopment school and hospital projects and was responsible for all stages of project cost control. Duties included cost planning, tendering and procurement, contract placements, post contract cost control, cost reporting and final accounts.

South Africa – 1991 to 2000:

After graduation and completing his military service, Gavin worked for one of South Africa’s leading contractors in the restoration field as a Contracts Surveyor. Working on various projects in a variety of sectors, Gavin was responsible for Cost Management and Control on the construction site. Duties included compiling bids and change orders, administering sub-contractors, scheduling, payment procedures and contract accounting.
